Report: Jeff Ireland told Jonathan Martin’s agent to have his client punch Richie Incognito

According to ProFootballTalk.com,  Jonathan Martin’s agent reached out to Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland about how his client was being treated by Richie Incognito.

Per multiple league sources, Dolphins G.M. Jeff Ireland received a call from Martin’s agent, Rick Smith, before Martin left the team on October 28. Smith complained to Ireland about the manner in which Incognito was treating Martin.

PFT’s source says that Ireland told Martin’s agent to have his client punch Incognito.

Ireland, according to the sources, suggested to Smith that Martin physically confront Incognito. Ireland specifically mentioned that Martin should “punch” Incognito.

It’s really sad that grown men need to handle a situation by resulting to violence.  I really hope this report is false.

This wouldn’t surprise me at all.  Ireland is the same person who asked Dez Bryant if his mom was a hooker.

They say the cover up is worse than the crime. Let’s get this straight- the coaches asked Richie to call Martin and “toughen him up”, yet they claimed that they had no idea why Jonathan was upset and left the team. The GM tells Martin’s agent to have Jonathan punch Richie, yet the organization denies any knowledge that there was a rift between the two.

How can anyone justify keeping Philbin and Ireland at this point?
