Report: Dolphins owner wanted to strip Jeff Ireland of his power

The Miami Dolphins announced earlier today the they’ve parted ways with general manager Jeff Ireland.

According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald,  Dolphins owner Stephen Ross wanted to strip Ireland of most of his power and he wasn’t having that.

A club source said Ireland was going to lose much if not all his decision-making power on personnel. Ross intended to bring in someone with personnel powers over Ireland. That was not acceptable to Ireland.
