The Dallas Cowboys would like to sign both left tackle Tyron Smith and wide receiver Dez Bryant to contract extensions some time this year., according to Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com.
They have tied up Tyron Smith through at least 2015 by picking up the option, so they can breathe a little easier there. They do want to sign him to a long-term contract and that’s something that could happen this summer before or during training camp. They also would like to get Dez Bryant done with him entering the final year of his deal. Bryant doesn’t want to leave. The Cowboys don’t want him to leave. The question will be structure. I think you’ll see a deal in which a lot of the money is in the base salaries as a way to protect the club.
You could certainly argue that Dallas has to build their offense around Smith and Bryant.
