According to Josh Ellis of DallasCowboys.com, with the deadline to sign franchise players to long-term contracts just a week away, the Cowboys don’t plan on locking up linebacker Anthony Spencer with a new deal.

The Cowboys plan on letting Spencer play out this season under the franchise tag, which will pay him $8.8 million in 2012.

If the Cowboys want to, they could end up placing the tag on Spencer once again after this season.

I think the Cowboys will look to replace Spencer in 2013 and not re-sign him or tag him again.
