According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chargers will likely release veteran offensive tackle Marcus McNeil, which will free up $10 million in cap room for next season.
McNeil has to been cleared by the Chargers team doctors by March 13, when the new league year begins or his 2012 salary won’t be guaranteed. Right now, it looks as though McNeil won’t be cleared by the doctors.
The Chargers might also release defensive end Luis Castillo, unless they can renegotiate his current contract, since he’s due to make $4.975 million in 2012
