According to Michael C. Wright of ESPNChicago.com, the Bears plan on moving guard Chris Williams over to tackle this season.
Bears offensive coordinator Mike Tice just said last week that if they felt like tackle was a position of need they would have addressed it during the draft.
“I think (general manager) Phil (Emery) and (head coach) Lovie (Smith) — with the help of the scouts and the staff — if we felt tackle were a dire need for us, I’m sure they would have answered the bell on draft day,” Tice said.
Whether the Bears want to admit it or not, they need to upgrade their entire offensive line. Maybe another injury to quarterback Jay Cutler will convince them of this. I’m not wishing anything on Cutler, but I’m often left scratching my head when I think the moves the Bears don’t make at times. They need to sign running back Matt Forte to a long-term deal and solidify their offensive line.
