Report: Antonio Brown’s extension means Mike Wallace won’t get a new contract

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, now that Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown has been rewarded with a contract extension, there’s no way Mike Wallace will get a new long-term contract anytime soon.

The reason Wallace won’t get a  new deal now is because the Steelers just paid Brown, which means they don’t have the cap room to also pay Wallace. They’re also going  be really strapped for money next season, but they’ll be able to slap Wallace with the franchise tag in 2013, so he won’t be going anywhere any time soon.
