One provision in Alex Boone’s re-worked contract is that the 49ers won’t be able to use the franchise tag on him after the 2015 season, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
Contract will include provisions forbidding franchise or transition tags – so Boone will be free after the 2015 season. Looks like win/win

So not only doe Boone get a bump in salary, but he’ll be free after next season to cash out in free agency.
