Almost immediately after the Buccaneers traded cornerback Eric Wright to the 49ers earlier Friday, we found out that the Bucs were going to release him if they couldn’t trade him. Then we found out that Wright was arrested two weeks ago in Los Angeles and charged with misdemeanor DUI.
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, the 49ers knew about Wright’s latest arrest prior to acquiring him on Friday from the Bucs.
Per a league source with knowledge of the discussions, the Buccaneers disclosed the July 12 arrest for suspicion of DUI during trade talks with the 49ers.
Despite Wright’s latest arrest, the 49ers made a good move by trading a late round conditional draft pick for him, they don’t have anything to lose.
