As the 2011 NFL draft approaches and the Washington Redskins prepare their draft board, head coach Mike Shanahan has made up his mind about at least one thing. He will not let the NFL’s labor situation keep him from drafting a quarterback.
The Redskins are currently expected to use one of there top picks on a quarterback come draft day. Whether its in the first or second round.
Due to the NFL lockout, it will keep rookie quarterbacks from being able to learn the offense of the team they are drafted by since players can’t talk with coaches at this time. Teams are restricted from giving players playbooks during the lockout as well.

I don’t care what it is, if someone’s not familiar with your system, it’s going to take some time.”
“Nope, can’t even do that(hand out playbooks),” Shanahan said. “We can draft them but we’re not supposed to have any contact. But everyone, if they draft a quarterback, will be in the same situation. We’ll all be limited with what we can do offensively. Obviously, you would like to have a full offseason to work with them, and your whole team, but that might not be the case. So you have game plans for every situation.”
