Redskins will likely let Brian Orakpo play out the final year of his contract

Dan Graziano of ESPN.com believes the Washington Redskins will let linebacker Brian Orakpo play out the final year of his current contract before working on an extension.

Brian Orakpo says he’s not worried about his contract situation with one year left on his deal. For whatever it’s worth, a week ago I believed the Redskins were likely to try to extend Orakpo this offseason, but after spending a couple of days at their minicamp last week and talking to people there, I now believe they intend to let him play out the deal and negotiate next offseason.

The Redskins would be smart to wait until after this season to work on a contract extension for Orakpo.  They need to see if he can stay healthy in 2013 before giving him a new deal.
