The Washington Redskins have officially announced that they have released running back Clinton Portis.
It’s obvious why the Redskins released Portis. It doesn’t make much sense to pay an aging running back over $8 million that has played in 13 games the past two years combined.
Portis will turn 30 years old in September and he really started to break downa couple of years ago.
My guess is that he will not draw much attention on the open market and will have to retire.
Portis has 9,923 rushing yards ( 77 yards shy of 10,000), 4.5 yards per carry, and 75 touchdowns in his career.
