According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the Washington Redskins plan on developing former Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins with the hopes of being about to trade him later on, like the Atlanta Falcons did with Matt Schaub.
When the Falcons traded Schaub to the Houston Texans, they were able to receive a two 2nd round picks and 3rd round pick in return for him.
I think it was a great decision by the Redskins to draft Cousins, because they can develop him as a back up and if Robert Griffin III ends up being a bust or injury prone, they have a nice back up plan.
