According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL has taken away millions of dollars in cap room from the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys for front-loading contracts during the uncapped year.
The Redskins will lose $36 million in cap room and the Cowboys will lose $10 million. The NFL has given them the option of splitting the amount over the 2012 and 2013 seasons if they’d like.
The money that the Redskins and Cowboys lost will be spread out over 28 teams. Each team will receive $1.6 million in extra cap room, except for the Saints and Raiders who won’t gain or lose any money.
