Ray Lewis will take his time in deciding his future

Shannon Sharpe gave his former Ravens teammate Ray Lewis a call this week to check to see how he was doing after suffering an injury that could end his season.

“I was surprised by how good his spirits were,” Sharpe said, via the USA Today. “I was expecting him to be down. When I broke my collarbone, I cried like a baby. That was not the case with him.”

Sharpe says Lewis knew on Sunday night that his injury was serious.

“He knew on Sunday night,” said Sharpe. “I could tell in his voice.

“I’m like, ‘Where’s your head at?’

“He says, ‘I’m good, bro.’ ”

Sharpe called Lewis back once everything was confirmed on Monday.

“He surprised me again, by how calm he was about what happened,” Sharpe said. “He pretty much said, ‘It happened, so I’ve got to deal with it.’ ”

Lewis isn’t ready to make any drastic decisions on his future.

“He said, ‘Right now, I need to stay positive for my team.’ ”

I really can’t imagine Lewis retiring and going out like this.  There is still a chance he can play this season.
