According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, while the Baltimore Ravens are still looking to sign free agent linebacker Elvis Dumervil, they could end up settling for Dwight Freeney.
Ideally, the Ravens would like to land recently released Elvis Dumervil, and he is their top target of the available free agents, according to league sources. But the team remains in a tight cap bind and there are concerns he might not fit in their parameters.
The Ravens have also expressed interest in Dwight Freeney and are monitoring his market, while Osi Umenyiora could make sense for them as well if the other options are too pricey, sources said.
I don’t think Freeney or Umenyiora would make sense for the Ravens, since both players are ideally 4-3 defensive ends. I can’t imagine them as outside linebackers in a 3-4. Freeney looked out of place in Indy last season as a linebacker.
