According to Aaron Wilson of The Capital, the Baltimore Ravens and the representatives for quarterback Joe Flacco got off to a good start as they attempt to hammer out a contract extension.
“I think it was very productive,” agent Joe Linta told The Capital. “It’s very clear that Joe is an important part of the Ravens team. We’ll keep working away. I’m optimistic that we can work something out.”
Officials from the Ravens believe a deal will get done as Flacco approaches the final year of his current contract.
“Sometimes in negotiations, it can be done in two days or it can take 12 months,” general manager Ozzie Newsome said per The Capital. “I think there is a willingness with Joe Linta and Joe Flacco’s part, and Steve and the organization to try and get the deal done. We’re going to push toward that.”
Flacco has done a great job of leading the Ravens to the playoffs during his career so far, but by no means does he deserve the same kind of money as the other elite quarterbacks in the NFL, $15 million a season, seems a little steep to me.
