According to ABC News Baltimore,  a Ravens cheerleader died on Friday morning after crashing his motorcycle.

Police say  around 9:15 a.m. Friday Raphael “Dyon” Bagby, 27, was riding a 2001 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle on Rt. 15 at Monocacy Boulevard when he braked suddenly to avoid a Volkswagen Jetta crossing into his lane. The sudden braking caused the motorcycle to skid and he was unable to stop before striking the passenger side of the Volkwagen.

Bagby was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen was not seriously injured.

The Ravens issued a statement.

“This is such sad news, and the entire Ravens family is in mourning over Dyon’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dyon’s family and friends,” said team spokesman, Patrick Gleason.

Bagby just recently tried out and made the Ravens coed cheerleading team.

The Frederick News Post reports Bagby was a cheerleading coach for Infinity All Stars. The Virginia-based cheerleading and dance team says he had also recently tried out for the Baltimore Ravens’ co-ed cheerleading squad, made the team and was set to start his first season with the NFL squad this fall. He was originally from Oklahoma.
