According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, free agent wide receiver Randy Moss received his first contract offer, but it wasn’t from an NFL team. It was from the Chicago Slaughters of the IFL (Indoor Football League).
I guess the Slaughters figured if Terrell Owens decided to play in the IFL, maybe Moss would follow him. The only problem is that it looks like there are at least a few NFL teams interested in Moss at the moment, unlike Owens who didn’t draw any interest. Maybe the Slaughters were willing to offer him full ownership of the team in order to entice Moss, since Owens received partial ownership of the Allen Wranglers.
The bad news for the Slaughters is that I don’t think Moss is interested in playing for an IFL team, even if he doesn’t get any offers from any NFL teams.
