Rams GM confirms they’re working on an extension for Sam Bradford

St. Louis Rams general manager Les Snead told reporters at the. NFL Scouting Combine that they’re working on a contract extension for Sam Bradford.

There were some previous reports that the Rams weren’t going to extend Bradfords contact.  That is clearly not the case.

I know a lot of people feel Sam isn’t our QB for the future, however, drafting a rookie, or trying to pay big dollars to a free agent(whom apparently isn’t wanted by his current team) doesn’t sound like a sure bet either. Does anyone really feel a college QB just coming out and trying to learn a system Sam’s now worked in for two years will be an upgrade? Yes, we do need a backup for the future or God forbid Sam’s injured again, but Kellen really didn’t do so bad after he got his head into our system and felt comfortable. I think we need to look for a sharp kid in the second round who we can groom for the eventual backup and or take over as first string. But I hope the Rams don’t do a knee jerk and grab someone and hope for miracles. Look how quickly RGIII fell off, and what it cost Washington to get him. He’s good by no means a guarantee to a SB!

I cannot stress enough how wrongheaded it would be to extend Bradford’s contract. He has ranked in the bottom half of the QB ratings every year he has been in the league. The Rams passing game has struggled since he has been here. The Rams need to finally realize they need a new signal caller. Bridgewater, Manziel or Bortles will be available at No.2,…they must take advantage.
