Raiders will save $6 million if they release Carson Palmer

It was reported earlier today that Carson Palmer isn’t willing to restructure his contract to help the Oakland Raiders.

If the Raiders decide to keep Palmer, he’ll account for over $15 million against the cap in 2013.  If he ends up getting released he’ll account for just over $9 million, but the Raiders will save $6 million per Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times.

The Raiders are roughly $4 million under the cap right now, if they can save another $6 million, that will give them some wiggle room to bring in some free agents.
