The Oakland Raiders were forced to rework cornerback Stanford Routt’s contract in order to free up some cap space for this season. Routt will now be paid $54.5 million over five seasonss. Which makes him the third highest paid corner in the NFL.
Is it me or isn’t a crazy to think of Routt as the third best corner in the NFL? I’m not sure if he’s even a top ten corner. Throughout his six seasons in the league, Routt only has six interceptions in his career. He even had two straight seasons without an interception. And let’s be honest, it’s not because teams don’t throw the ball his way and avoid him because he’s so good.
I guess Al Davis and the Raiders figured Nnamdi Asomugha’s money had to go to someone.
