Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey sustained a high ankle sprain in yesterdays AFC Championship game against the Jets.
Pouncey is holding out hope that he will be able to play through the injury in order to help his team try to win the Super Bowl in less than two weeks.
Normally high ankle sprains take roughly 4-6 weeks to heal.
Head coach Mike Tomlin had the following to say regarding Pouncey’s status,
“I think to say anything at this point would be premature. Of course, it was such that he couldn’t go back in the game today. I am sure we will have more information that will be debated here in the next couple of weeks.”
If Pouncey is able to play he will have the difficult task of holding off defensive tackle BJ Raji of the Packers. He needs to make sure he doesn’t try to play and end up costing his team a chance at winning.
