Let’s face it, the media storm that’s been driving the Washington Redskins to change their name won’t ever die down.
Between Bob Costa’s halftime speech last week and several college and high school teams changing their names from Redskins to something less derogatory, it’s time for Redskins owner Dan Snyder to swallow his pride and change the name of his team to Warriors.
Snyder wouldn’t even have to change the logo, which is perfectly fine. There’s nothing wrong the Redskins logo, it’s only the name that’s insulting and racist.
Snyder has to stop leaning on polls from Native Americans that approve the Redskins name since they are both outdated and don’t cover a large portion of the Native American population.
Costas said it best last week, would you acknowledged a Native American by calling him a Redskins? I don’t think so. I understand the Redskins aren’t trying to hurt anyone, but the name is simply insulting and racist and no one can change that.
At the end of the day, Snyder can hold off as long as he wants, but he’s going to have to change the name of his football organization.
