According to Ron Musselman of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak is currently the top pick of the Penn State university search committee to succeed former head coach Joe Paterno.
Munchak is a former Penn State offensive lineman that’s spent his entire pro career with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans as a player and coach.
Former tailback Curt Warner thinks Munchak would be a great choice to help Penn State to move on from the sex abuse scandal that has rocked their university as well as the nation.
“Mike would be a great fit,” Warner said Tuesday night from his home in Vancouver, Wash. “He’s a Penn State guy. I don’t think any of his old teammates would be upset about him getting the job at all. He has my support. I’d love to see him get it.”
Penn State’s second option at this point is believed to be Packers quarterback’s coach Tom Clements.
Update: ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting at Penn State has been told that Munchak isn’t interested in the job.
