In a very shocking manner the New England Patriots released wide receiver Tiquan Underwood the night before Super Bowl XLVI.
With the departure of Underwood, the Patriots promoted defensive end Alex Silvestro to the active roster.
This could also be a sign that wide receiver Chad Ochocinco will be active and a potential factor for tomorrow’s game as well.
“Silvestro is a defensive end/tackle. They’ll utilize him especially on rushing downs in a four-man front over the guard,” said NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi. “They played him earlier in the season to see if he had any quickness to be a factor. He was, so I think that’s what they’re going to do.
“But Chad Ochocinco … he will play quite a bit, and I think he could have an impact on the game.”
There was some thought that maybe the Giants should sign Underwood to get intel on the Patriots game plan for tomorrow’s game. But according to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, per league rules–the Giants can’t sign Underwood until Monday. So that’s not going to happen.
