According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Carolina Panthers will not place their franchise tag on running back DeAngelo Williams.
Instead they will tag either center Ryan Kalil or defensive end Charles Johnson.
Williams had a rough season in 2010 after playing in only six games and being placed on season ending injured reserve with a mid-foot sprain.
He will most likely hit the free agent market now that the Panthers are in somewhat of a rebuilding mode.
I don’t see the Panthers trying to re-sign Williams because the amount of money he may demand. They also have an established running back with Jonathan Stewart on the roster.
