The Carolina Panthers were recently asked at the NFL’s owner’s meetings if running back DeAngelo Williams is still on the trade block. They decided to neither confirm or deny that Williams is available, according to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.
There were suggestions at the NFL Annual Meeting that Williams still could be on the trade market. The Panthers aren’t shooting down that notion. Finding a taker for Williams’ contract is a long shot, but the St. Louis Rams make some sense. Williams is most likely to stay put, but this is one to watch around draft time.
I hate to say it, but the Panthers are stuck with Williams and his huge contract. No team is going to want to pay him $4.75 million this coming season, $5.75 million in 2014, and $6.75 million in 2015.
