Packers general manager Ted Thompson isn’t ready to rule out possibly re-signing tight end Jermichael Finley.
Finley is still recovering from neck fusion surgery and has not gotten clearance from doctors to resume his career. To return to the Packers, he would have to clear their medical exam, which might be difficult to do given the caution they take with such injuries.
“I don’t necessarily think the two are tied at all,” Thompson said.
“We were just trying to pick a good player.”
Asked if he was holding out hope Finley would return, he said, “Yeah, I mean we all hope for that, that everybody will be fine. We don’t know. We’ll see.”
It certainly still makes sense for the Packers to bring back Finley, as long as he’s healthy.
