Packers hoping to get more injured players back this week

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy told the media on Monday that he believes he’ll be getting back some of his key players soon, and that could happen this week.

He said Monday morning that the return of safety Charles Woodson (collarbone), receiver Jordy Nelson (hamstring), running back Alex Green (concussion), tight end Tom Crabtree (hamstring) and end Jerel Worthy (hamstring) are imminent.

“I’m hopeful a lot of those guys can get back. But we’ll see,” McCarthy said a day after beating Tennessee, 55-7. “I know Jordy, talking with him, he feels like he’s very close. Charles, he’s waiting on information from the medical staff. He’s very close. Alex Green, I was surprised that he wasn’t available for Tennessee just based on the way that process, the result of the process, so he’ll definitely be available.

“C.J. (Wilson, knee), I don’t have enough information there. Same with James Starks (knee). Tom Crabtree’s close, he’ll be close. Jerel should be ready.”

If the packers are going to make a deep playoff run this season, they’re going to need most of their impact players to be on the field.
