According to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, defensive end Osi Umenyiora believes that this will likely be his last season with the Giants and he’s hoping to go out with a bang.
“Hopefully we’ll be able to go on a run here and things will be like it was back in 2007,’’ said Umenyiora.
Since Umenyiora won’t be a free agent until 2013, I guess he figures that he can force his way out of New York either via trade or by being released during the upcoming offseason.
The only problem is that I’m not sure if the Giants can get the compensation they’re looking for in return for Umenyiora, since he’s been battling injuries all season despite a productive year when he’s been on the field. And there’s no way the Giants will release him, he has too much value.
