According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, the 49ers and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio are waiting to see if cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha can still cover. If he can’t, he won’t make their roster.
A 10-year veteran, Asomgugha struggled mightily with the Philadelphia Eagles the past two seasons upon signing a big-money deal. After getting released, the 49ers signed him to a one-year, $1.325 million contract with no guaranteed money. He has to make the team to get paid. “It remains to be seen how well he can cover,” Fangio said last month.
This is certainly the first time in his career that Asomugha is on the roster bubble.
