NFL will no longer allow extreme custom face masks

According to ProFootballTalk.com,  NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told the AP that non-traditional face masks will no longer be allowed.

The list of players that have such face masks are Brian Orakpo (above), Chris Canty, Justin Tuck, and Robert Mathis who announced on Twitter that the league rejected his request for a custom mask.

Just like dark sun visors, players will be allowed to wear a custom mask if they have a medical reason.

I would love to know the NFL’s reasoning behind this.
