During the final play of this past Sunday’s Broncos-Steelers playoff game in which Tim Tebow completed an 80 yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, a question was raised by Bay Area News Group, as to if the Broncos had enough players on the line of scrimmage before the ball was snapped.
After looking at the play, the NFL has come out and declared the formation to be legal.
“There is nothing to this,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told NFL.com and NFL Network on Tuesday. “This is a legal formation. This should not have been flagged.”
Former NFL VP of officiating Mike Pereira addressed the play as well.
“Watch on any Sunday. This is a good formation compared to many,” Pereira told Bay Area News Group. “They are not technical with this.”
