With the news of Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma suing NFL commissioner Roger Goodell today, he’s already received plenty of support from players around the league, per Mike Silver of Yahoo Sports.
“What a badass,” said an offensive player from an NFC team, per Silver. “He’s the man. I think it’s nuts, but I love it. He’s going after Goodell. He should, too.”
“It’s aggressive, and I love it. I’m excited to see what happens. I love the sound of ‘Vilma v. Goodell.’ This is gonna cement Vilma’s name forever,” said a defensive player from an AFC team.
Some players are imagining what it would be like if Vilma ends up beating Goodell in court.
“If the ruling is favorable [to Vilma] in any way, it’s going to open the floodgates,” the AFC player said. “If he prevails, man, that would be sweet.”
“If Vilma wins? Oh, then he’s God. They should just put him as commissioner if that happens,” said the NFC player.
It’s not surprising that Vilma has the support of some of his fellow players, since it’s a well-known fact that most of them hate Goodell for the way he’s been a dictator on player safety since taking over as commissioner.
