Mikel Leshoure was an immensely talented runner coming out of Illinois and earned played his way in to the second round of the NFL when he was picked by the Lions. Now he isn’t even second on the depth chart. Leshoure reportedly would welcome a trade to a team that would allow him to play and at the moment Reggie Bush and Joique Bell are too talented to take off of the field.
Leshoure denied a recent report that he would welcome a trade, but according to reports the 2011 second round pick is frustrated and looking for answers.
“I just want to play,” the tailback said after Wednesday’s practice. “That’s all I want — to play. Like I said it before, just a lot of speculation because of the fact I’m not on the field, people just wondering what’s going on. But I want to play, and that’s it.”-BlackSportsOnline.com
I can’t blame Leshoure he certainly has shown promise and is only two years off of a second round selection. It will be interesting to see if a team makes the Lions an offer that they can’t refuse. The team is apparently receiving calls including one reportedly from the Colts before they pulled the trigger on the Trent Richardson deal.
