Washington Redskins’ head coach Mike Shanahan told Mark Maske of The Washington Post that quarterback Robert Griffin III is going to have to learn to slide so he can protect himself better going forward.
Shanahan says Griffin will have to learn to slide, throw the ball away, protect himself. "You can't take shots consistently."

I thought Russell Wilson of the Seahawks and Colin Kaepernick of the 49ers did a great job of avoiding contact last season by sliding, opposed to trying to get an extra few yards.
Next season I think you’re going to see teams hit the quarterback more on read-option plays, even after he pitches the ball to the running back because the quarterback is technically fair game since he’s considered to be a runner in that situation.
