According to NFL.com, Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan confirmed that Robert Griffin III won’t play in the preseason and he won’t be allowed to fully practice for a few weeks.

Shanahan indicated that the goal is to get Griffin practicing at “full game tempo,” but that might not happen for two to three weeks.

NFL.com’s Jeff Darlington spoke with Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan privately about RGIII. The plan is to give Griffin eight reps (out of 10) for the next week during the team’s 7-on-7 drills. He won’t participate in team drills for at least a week.

There should be very little doubt at this point that Griffin will be ready for the season opener.
