New Browns head coach Mike Pettine likes what he’s seen from quarterback Brian Hoyer.
“I think he’s a winner,” said Pettine via the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. “I think the intangibles with Brian are off the charts. I think he’s a football junky and I think you can tell he loves the game. He came from a system where he learned from the best in the game and that showed on the field. A lot of people based on his background kind of fall asleep on him a little bit. I think he’s a winning quarterback in this league.”
Pettine better believe in Hoyer, because there’s a good chance he’ll be the Browns week one starter with Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell both expected to be released this offseason.
Of course the Browns will likely draft a quarterback, but he may not be ready for start right away.
