The lawyer of 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree released a statement indicating that he’s met with the authorities as they continue to investigate whether he should be charged after being accused of sexually assaulting a female after last week’s game.
“On Friday, January 18, 2013, Michael Crabtree voluntarily met with the San Francisco Police Department and provided a statement. Michael fully cooperated with the inspectors and will continue to do so throughout the investigation. We have confidence in the process. Out of respect and integrity for the process, we have no further comment at this time.”
The alleged assault occurred in a San Francisco hotel Sunday in the early morning, hours after the 49ers’ 45-31 victory over the Green Bay Packers in an NFC divisional playoff game. The incident is being investigated by the Special Victims Unit, and will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office when it is completed.
The good news for the 49ers and Crabtree is that he’s expected to play in Sunday’s game.
