Maurkice Pouncey won’t be charged with battery…yet

The Miami Herald reported on Thursday that Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey will be charged with misdemeanor battery for his role in a brawl at a Miami night club.

According to the Herald, Pouncey will not be charged just yet.

Police believe they have enough evidence to charge Maurkice Pouncey with misdemeanor battery, but the decision ultimately falls to the State Attorney’s Office, which is not yet ready to pursue.

That’s according to Detective Vivian Thayer, a Miami Beach spokeswoman, who said detectives met with Miami-Dade prosecutors on Friday to discuss the case. Prosecutors want to review all evidence before deciding how to proceed.

“I guarantee you there won’t be a charge today,” said Ed Griffith, a spokesman for the State Attorney’s Office. “We will be reviewing all of the evidence from the police, as well as any evidence presented by attorneys of the related parties.”

The good news for Mike Pouncey, Marukice’s twin brother, is that he likely won’t be charged.
