According to Gene Ferrette of the Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew denies that he was fined $800,000 by the Jags for holding out throughout training camp.
Jones-Drew repeatedly emphasized that it was inaccurate, saying: “Make sure you guys report that was false.”
The Jaguars’ running back declined to be specific about any fine amount, whether it was less or more than $800,000, or even acknowledge that he was even fined. He has followed the company line of general manager Gene Smith in saying that it was an internal matter and offered no further comment.
I would be surprised if the Jaguars completely wiped away Jones-Drew’s fine, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they ended up cutting it in half.
