Mathias Kiwanuka will take over for Jason Pierre-Paul for now

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, now that defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is out for the next several weeks after undergoing back surgery, Mathias Kiwanuka will slide into his starting spot until further notice.

“To be able to slap your hand in the ground and not have to worry about going from one position to the other, it makes it more comfortable when you’re out there,” Kiwanuka said. “I’m not going to lie about that.

“It was a move I was looking forward to. I had a feeling it was coming.”

Kiwanuka believes he can make a big impact as a defensive end.

“There’s no doubt in my mind,” Kiwanuka said. “That’s the position I came in this league playing and I’m looking forward to the opportunity.

“I’m ready to go. It’s easy for me to slide back into that position because that’s what I’ve been doing.”

To be honest if he plays like I think he will we should consider starting him over Tuck. Unless Tuck has a break out year… Tuck’s last 2 years have been horrible if he doesn’t improve I would start Kiwi then have Tuck and Moore battle for the back up spot. I think if Tuck wasn’t our emotional leader on defense the Giants would of CUT him and held on to Osi. Osi was a better pass rusher but had flaws against the run and option offenses.
