Mathew Stafford exits early with a left hand injury

Detroit Lions quarterback Mathew Stafford left tonight’s preseason game against the Raiders with a left hand injury, per Josh Alper of

“Shaun Hill has replaced Stafford in the second quarter of their game against the Raiders after Stafford had to leave the game with a left hand injury. Stafford appeared to hit the hand on a helmet when Raiders defensive end Dave Tollefson hit him to force a third down incompletion,” wrote Alper.

Hopefully Stafford’s hand will be fine.  He’s certainly one of the top up and coming quarterbacks in the league, when he’s healthy.

Update: Lions head coach Jim Schwartz doesn’t believe Stafford’s injury is serious.
