Marshawn Lynch still facing a suspension

According to Dan Arkush of, even though some people around the league believe Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch may not be suspended after being arrested, there’s still a chance NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will punish him this season by suspending him for a couple of games.

“Opinions leaguewide have been mixed on the subject of whether or not Marshawn Lynch could be facing a suspension folllowing his DUI arrest in the wee hours of July 14, wrote Arkush.  “But the consensus among PFW’s sources seems to be that the Seahawks’ star running back is, at the very least, more likely than not to miss a couple of games. That it was his first DUI offense could bode well for Lynch, since commissioner Roger Goodell does not typically suspend first-time offenders under the league’s substance-abuse program. But a punishment based on the league’s personal-conduct policy — which was the case when Lynch was suspended for three games in 2009 as a member of the Bills after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor weapons charge — remains a very real possibility. Whatever the case, Lynch’s scheduled Aug. 14 arraignment figures to be a training-camp distraction that will be very difficult to ignore.”
