There are two players competing for the starting quarterback job with the New York Jets. Rookie Geno Smith and veteran Mark Sanchez who also plays like a rookie. With head coach Rex Ryan starting of the season on the hot seat, many expect Sanchez to be sitting right next to him.
According to ESPNNewYork.com however, Sanchez isn’t worried about losing this competition.
When it’s a straight-up competition for the job, let’s roll,” Mark Sanchez said. “It really doesn’t bother me at all. It really doesn’t affect my confidence or anything like that. We’re competing for something. All right, I’m going to win. That’s just how I am.
Looks like Sanchez did learn something from head coach Rex Ryan: How to make boastful comments. If these statements turn out to be anything like Ryan’s statements, look for Smith to win the starting job.
Whoever ends up winning the competition will have an uphill battle leading the Jets to success this season. You can read the reasons why we think so here. Unless expectations are blown out of the water, regardless of the record, look for Sanchez to be cut at the end of the season.
