Former Detroit Lions offensive lineman Lomas Brown admitted last year on ESPN Radio that he purposely allowed a defender to injure his former teammate, quarterback Scott Mitchell.
Brown says it really hurt him to play back the tape and listen to himself admit that he missed a block on purpose to allow Mitchell to get injured.
“That was the most hurtful part, how I said it,” Brown said, per DetroitLions.com. “You can hear the excitement in my voice. It was just wrong. I just really made myself sick when I heard myself.”
Brown did reach out to Mitchell and they talked things over.
“It was foolish,” Brown said. “If that would have been me getting a phone call from me after what I said, I wouldn’t have reacted the way Scott reacted,” Brown said. “I would have been mad. I wouldn’t have been laughing on the phone with me.
“Scott wasn’t like that.”
