The Detroit Lions are reportedly working on a contract extension for defensive end Cliff Avril. This is probably something they should’ve done at the beginning of the season, since now they’ll likely have to pay a much higher price to retain him after racking up 11 sacks and 6 forced fumbles this season.
“He is an elite, play making pass rusher who is going to get better,” Avril’s agent Brian Mackler told Dan Pompei of the National Football Post.
Avril certainly proved his worth to the Lions this season and I doubt they’ll allow him to walk in free agency.
