According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free-Press, it’s only a matter of time before the Lions and quarterback Mathew Stafford agree on a long-term extension.
It’s just a matter of time before the sides agree on a long-term deal that will keep Stafford in Detroit for years to come at a price that probably tops $100 million.
Both sides want it to happen, both sides need it to happen, and it makes sense for both sides to get something done before the start of the season.
Birkett says talks are starting to heat up a bit.
Talks will go on, quietly. They’re starting to simmer now. And soon enough they’ll boil over with something filling for all.
Even though Stafford had a down year in 2012, there’s no doubt that he has the talent to bounce back.
