According to MJD over at Yahoo! sports, Leaf Trading Cards is filing a lawsuit against soon-to-be Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck. The conflict seems to have started when the people at Leaf started using an image of Luck from the 2008 U.S. Army All-American Bowl on their cards. Luck filed a cease-and-desist order and in reply, Leaf Trading Cards filed a lawsuit against him.
MJD believes that the folks at Leaf may be using this as a way to gain free publicity for themselves. ”Perhaps it’s the case that the Leaf people saw an opportunity to get their name in the newspaper and pounced on it,” he writes.
In any event, this is probably not the type of distraction the Luck camp wants right now as one of the most anticipated NFL drafts in a long time is just around the corner. A draft in which Andrew Luck will become the 19th quarterback to be taken as the number one overall pick since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger.
